Fix For Home Page Redirects To Newly Published Pages Problem After Upgrading To WordPress 3.0

Issue: After upgrading to WordPress 3.0, when you publish a new page, the home page redirects to this page. If you view the headers of the page, you will find a 301 Permanent Redirect to the page. If you are also one of those who are facing this issue, then here is a solution for this problem.

Cause: This problem is caused by Redirection plugin for WordPress. For some reason, this plugin is not working correctly with WordPress 3.0, when new pages are published. It adds a permanent redirection from the root of your domain to any newly published or updated pages.

Fix: You can fix this problem by removing the 301 redirects added by Redirection plugin.

1. Go to Tools –> Redirection from your WordPress dashboard.

2. Click on the ‘Groups’ link found at the top.

3. You should now be able to find a redirection for the root (\) to a page in this group. Select this redirection and delete it.

That’s it. This should solve your home page redirection problem in WordPress 3.0.
