Submit Website URL/Sitemap To Bing [How To Guide]
Bing, Microsoft’s search engine, that replaced their earlier Live Search, is increasing in it’s market share day by day. It is highly recommended that you submit your website or blog to Bing, so that you don’t miss out on that extra traffic that Bing may drive to your website. We have already shown you how to submit your website URL or sitemap to Google, the search engine that drives the maximum traffic for most websites.
Method 1
This is the easy way of submitting a URL to Bing, without an account. Visit Submit Site of Bing webmaster, enter your homepage URL, and hit ‘Submit URL’. This is a one time submission. Also this method does not allow you to track your website statistics, such as the pages indexed by Bing, crawl errors perceived by the MSNBot if any, and so on. For serious webmasters, we recommend the below second method of site submission.

Method 2
The other way to submit and track your website is using Bing webmaster tools. You need to log in with your Windows Live ID (Hotmail/Messenger/Xbox LIVE) in order to use the Bing webmaster toolbox.
1. Head over to Bing Webmaster Tools, and sign in with your Windows Live ID.
2. Once you are signed in, you will see the ‘Add a site’ page. Enter the web address of your blog, it’s sitemap address (if present), and hit ‘Submit’. This will

3. In the next step, Bing webmaster center requires you to verify the ownership of your website in either of two ways: by uploading an XML file to the root of your site, or by adding HTML META tag to the HEAD section of your website. We recommend you choose the HTML META tag verification method, as it is the easier one of the two. Copy the Meta tag authentication code, and click ‘Return to Site List’.

4. Now paste the copied meta tag between the <head> and </head> tags of your website. In case you are on WordPress, go to Appearance –> Editor and open ‘Header.php’ file. Look for the <head> tag, and paste the Bing Meta tag as shown in the below screenshot. Save the file, and head back to Bing Webmaster Central.

5. In the site list (step 3), you will now see the newly added site. Click on the site, and Bing webmaster automatically authenticates the ownership with the help of the Meta tag, before giving the site’s statistics.

That’s it. You have successfully submitted your website to Bing Webmaster Center. Give enough time for your website to get indexed by Bing (Bing is very slow compared to Google in indexing a site). Once indexed, you can check various details regarding your website, organized in several tabs including Summary, Profile, Crawl Issues, Backlinks, Outbound links, keywords, sitemaps.

In the ‘Summary’ tab, you can view the number of your website’s pages indexed by Bing, the last crawled date, top 5 Pages of your site, and so on. Keep a track of any ‘Crawl Issues’ encountered by the Bing bot, such as 404 errors and try to keep them as low as possible. Bing is quite good in showing the backlinks to your site, so you may no longer need a backlink checking tool.
Tip: Test your website against more than 100 tools for SEO, Speed, HTML/CSS, Server stats, and so on.
